This Doctor of Ministry project teaches eight core essentials to begin equipping believers in a local church to practice biblical counseling. Chapter 1 gives the history of Providence Bible Church and its ministry context, and five goals of the project are presented. Chapter 2 is a study of various passages, specifically 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Deuteronomy 4:2, Romans 15:14, and Ephesians 4:11-12, which explain the biblical reasons for biblical counseling. Other scriptures are implemented to support these four key passages. Chapter 3 investigates the philosophies and teachings that guide secular and integration counselors. Biblical counseling is compared against these other methods. Chapter 4 highlights the teaching from the fifteen-week project. Eight subjects are covered and two surveys are given. Chapter 5 evaluates the usefulness and success of the project. The first and final surveys are compared to measure the success of the teaching and to the obtaining of the five goals.en_US
