T EQUIPPING PARENTS TO BE PRIMARY DISCIPLE MAKERS AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, ANDALUSIA, ALABAMA Michael Paul Rodriguez, D.Min. The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, 2014 Faculty Supervisor: Dr. Troy W. Temple This project examines the God-ordained role of parents as given throughout Scripture. Chapter 1 gives the context of the church approved for the project, along with the rationale for why this project is needed. Chapter 2 begins with an analysis of various texts throughout Scripture that provide the foundation for the role of parents as primary disciple makers. Chapter 3 offers theoretical support by investigating biblical manhood and womanhood in order to show that both perspectives lead to effective biblical parenting. Chapter 4 provides the overall methodology of how this project was introduced into the local church as a tool for discipleship. Chapter 5 provides an overview of the successes and failures that occurred throughout the duration of this project.en_US
