| dc.description.abstract | This thesis evaluates theories on the location of the Jerusalem Temple. Chapter 1 introduces the debate and identifies the Temple Mount as Mount Moriah. Chapter 2 examines the length of the cubit through literary and archaeological evidence. Chapter 3 presents an analysis of the Solomonic Temple based on the biblical text, particularly 1 Kings 6-7 and 2 Chronicles 3-4. Chapter 4 presents a history of the Temple Mount from the Solomonic Temple to the Dome of the Rock. In Chapter 5, the location theories of Asher Kaufman, Leen Ritmeyer, and David Jacobson are analyzed. Chapter 6 concludes with the evaluation that Ritmeyer has the strongest position: the site of the Temple was where the Dome of the Rock stands today. | en_US |
