dc.description.abstractDEVELOPING DISCIPLE-MAKERS AT BAY AREA FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH IN LEAGUE CITY, TEXAS Joshua Webb Allen, D. Min. The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, 2015 Faculty Supervisor: Donald S. Whitney This project was designed to equip adults at Bay Area First Baptist Church in League City, Texas to become disciple-makers who mature spiritually and begin discipling. Chapter 1 explains the purpose, goals, context, and rationale of the project. Chapter 2 explores the biblical and theological basis for developing disciple-makers. An exegesis of Matthew 28:16-20, John 15:1-5, Deuteronomy 6:4-9, 2 Timothy 2:1-7, Matthew 4:19, Luke 9:1-2, and Acts 18:24-28 supports the purpose of the project. Chapter 3 explains theoretical and practical support for developing disciple-makers by focusing on three primary areas critical to the disciple: Scripture, prayer, and abiding in Christ. It also explores the development of an intentional discipleship process and small group leadership. Chapter 4 describes the project including curriculum development, approval, participant recruitment, curriculum teaching, and group replication. Chapter 5 evaluates the project for effectiveness and improvement. The project successfully developed disciple-makers at Bay Area First Baptist Church.en_US
