dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this project is to improve corporate worship by integrating choral and congregational praise at Beautiful Gate Church in Annandale, Virginia. Chapter 1 presents the purpose of this project and describes the goals of the project. It also describes the ministry context of Beautiful Gate Church. This chapter also presents the rationale for the project to integrate coral and congregational praise. Chapter 2 examines the biblical and theological supports for the project. Several passages (for example, Gen 4:2-8, John 4:20-24, and Ps 22:3) would be examined in detail. These passages put emphasis on the importance of worship and the roles of praising for the Christian belief. Chapter 3 deals with the theoretical and sociological issues concerning this project. This chapter examines the contemporary culture and music and their characteristics. It also discusses the problems of church worship and praising under the contemporary culture and music. It evaluates the current worship and praising models and suggests an alternative style. Chapter 4 outlines the methodology for the project with a detailed procedure. A music minister gives some seminars on the biblical worship and praising and guide the choir and congregation to practice for an integrating praising. The purpose of this chapter is to give some guidelines when someone applies this project to a different setting to improve his church's worship. Chapter 5 evaluates the effectiveness of the project.en_US
